I very much appreciate all your very helpful advice - I feel rather foolish now - off immediately to find some new tyres. This might also sort out the steering!

Don't feel foolish. No such thing as a stupid question here Morgans can be more prone to steering wobble than 'ordinary' cars. Also, while new tyres are being fitted check the wheel rims for run-out, particularly with wires. Wire wheels require special technique for balancing, as Tim and other have said.

I think you will be amazed the difference it will make with a new set of tyres. I have changed mine, which were only 6 years old, and the difference is really noticeable. The new ones were Toyo T1R's, quite reasonable at £250 for 4.

As others have said about 6 years is your maximum life span so tyres that give the most miles are usually low down the list for Morgan owners as you're unlikely to wear them out before they have aged.
If you don't use your car much for lon periods, particularly over winter, it is a good Ida to put a few extra pounds in your tyres and move the cars few inches every couple of weeks to avoid flat spots occurring - which may also add to vibrations over time!

Many thanks again.
I will talk to the garage about fitting the Toyo's as they seem to be a pretty good price for what they offer.
I will let everyone know the outcome of the charity run,
Cheers.
