Really quite surprised by the OPs comments. Kumho tyres are one of the brands recommended in Lotus circles as giving good grip for track days etc - and unlike the hide barge referred to, grip is everything on a Lotus.

I wonder if coincidentally something went wrong with the drive or suspension

I didn´t think that Kumho tyres lack grip. Maybe there is a wide variety of qualities in Kumho tyres. The Lotus bunch use Kumho V700 for the Elise.

I just bought a set of Kumhos for the Clio after seeing them as OE spec on VWs. The traction control now lights-up on a spirited commute, something that never happened on worn Contis.

How many people who have the luxury of a spare wheel have a 4 or 5 year old tyre which is useless. I believe there is a compound in new tyres which helps to preserve the rubber but needs to be driven 50 miles + to release it. So perhaps best to put your new spare on & drive it a few miles

Agreed - most tyres do come with a finish which needs wearing off. A couple of good runs will improve them quickly.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
