Bought a 4/4 4 seater, 1977, very good condition, but am tidying up details. The leather at the top of the driver's door is cracked and I'm replacing it. Any previous experience available amongst Forum members?

Welcome to TM from the other side of the world & congratulations on your purchase.

I'm sure Richard - Aus will say hello to you at some point on TM. He is based in Perth & has a '76 4/4 4 seater so not sure where about's you are from him - probably a long way away!

Has the leather cracked badly? Over hear we get Gliptone which comes in conditioner and cleaner versions. I use it to maintain my leather and keep it well fed but also I've used it on on aold Chesterfield chair and kept applying it to leather that had cracked. It did improve it remarkably and may be worth a try before attempting to replace. http://www.liquidleather.com/

Post some camera when you can.

Welcome to TM from WA.

I cannot help you with that question, mine was re-trimmed before my purchase but I am sure somebody else will be along soon.

Look forward to some photos.

Welcome to TM from sunny Devon UK, you will get lots of help and advice on here. As others have said Gliptone or Liquid Leather is very good, if you send an of cut from under the seat they will exact colour match. You will be surprised how good the results can be and relatively inexpensive. cheers
