Been reading a number of posts where the consensus seems to point towards finding and using a good local mechanic/garage once our cars are out of warranty.
Makes a lot of sense to me, particularly as I am somewhat challenged with the spanners, and my dealer is not exactly local. The many and varied potential issues that await with my Three Wheeler mean a local "safe haven" holds a lot of appeal for me.
Does anyone have any suggestions for trusted outfits in the Southampton/Hampshire area ?

If I would own a 3W, I would consider a local motorcycle garage.
These guys are typically very enthusiastic about their work, especially if they are allowed to work on something special like a Morgan.

The best Harley dealer in the country 20 years ago was Surrey Harley Davidson in Dorking, they were superb. I have ridden down from Leicester to not only buy parts other dealers did not stock but also to have specialised work done. No idea if they are still trading but they were top blokes who even if they have stopped must have gone on somewhere as they were young chaps? A bit of digging on a Harley owners forum may turn something up? They sold S&S engines and components and did everything from full engine rebuilds to selling S&S carb kits.

They moved out of Dorking some years ago.

There is a Harley dealer in Godalming (near Guildford) but I don't know if it's the ex Dorking guys.

Thanks for the update, that's a shame as they would be very knowledgeable, I remember I bought the, then, latest S&S carb kit for my Road King whilst in the USA and when I got home the cables would not fit my later throttle housing, I rang them and they offered to help as they made cables in house for their custom bikes, went down and they made them and fitted them while I waited to make sure they were OK, total customer focus.

I found a shop by searching the S&S authorized dealer section of their website (see below). The authorized service center I found was also a very capable general mechanic. They can mount / balance tires, work on belt drive issues, and do performance upgrades.

Have a look.

Guildford Harley Davidson opened a few years ago following the demise of Dorking (Surrey Harley) after some shenanigans - Guildford are now Lind Harley who also are opening a dealership in Winnersh (Reading). I personally wouldn't choose a harley dealership to carry out work on my M3W but an independant absolutely.

I would gravitate to a custom chopper place. S&S are the creme de la creme in the custom bike world. The only thing I buy from Harley is their alternator/regulator and oil filters. Harley people will avoid S&S.

If there is one to be found in your area...

I haven't had much luck here in California the San Francisco East Bay Area.Talked to one of the "old" dealers after I bought oil if they worked on S&S engines. He looked at me and said, "Not in a lifetime" So I went to a big independent biker build places to buy a manual for the X wedge. I asked if they used them in builds? "Nah, my customers say they they look too Japanese". Then I went to another Harley dealer to buy the timing belt tools. Asked the guy, "Do you work on S&S W wedge engines?" He said, "Sure, if we don't have anything to do." I then asked whats the wait time to get in." He said,"About 6 months."
Guys, here in the Bay Area we are on our own. Its one of the reasons I clown around and do all my own work.
