Looking for some guidance regarding an impromptu trip I've got planned for this next week to the UK... have only ever had the pleasure of driving Mog's as I've met folks that've had them and been brave enough to ask for the keys...and that's also only been a 90s 4/4 and new '13 3W'er(we don't get a lot of Mogs on this side of the pond). Would love to spend some time behind the wheel of a newer Trad range Mog or 3wheeler while I'm in country! I've done the requisite research and have found that on top of the higher than average daily rental cost (195£), I'm also ineligible to rent a Mog virtually anywhere because of my age (23). Youngest I've found published is the MMC website and they require a minimum age of 25 with three years driving experience(could they be flexible on this?)...
Does anyone know of a private/independent garage that would be capable of renting? or a private individual willing to do the same? I've been driving Stateside since 16, have a clean record, excellent insurance and have Int'l driving experience with a few weeks in Australia driving a friends '59 TR-3 and '08 A class. Fully capable of driving on the opposite side of the road - logged roughly five hundred trouble free miles in and around Sydney about a year and a half ago.
All thoughts welcome! Willing and able to fly into Heathrow, Birmingham, Glasgow or Edinburgh and plan my trip from there accordingly. Really only looking for 2-3 days with the car - Apr. 12-14(?) and am willing to work out really any kind of deal that could get me behind the wheel! ...Not opposed to slave labor in exchange...
Thanks! Matt

Hey Matt
Sadly I think the age threshold of 25 might come up over and over again as this is the age most insurers use for fleet and hire policies - it certainly is on my company fleet policy and I think most garages it will be the same
All I can suggest is email MMC and the other few dealers that hire out Morgans and ask the question - the worst that can happen is they say no sorry due to the insurance policy I suspect most MOG owners in the UK have very specific policies that to get the price down would have the same if not higher age thresholds and it would be covered by just 'third party' if someone else was to drive it but you never know someone might come up with an idea
Happy hunting

+1 try the Morgan dealers.
Melvyn Rutter and Williams have cars for hire and there may be others.
Links from the MMC site.
Good luck

http://www.morgan-motors-cars.com/MorganHirehttp://www.williamsautomobiles.com/hire/The hire charge you've already found seems to be the going rate, as for age limits, you'll have to contact the dealer directly. Melvyn Rutter is conveniently located within an easy half hour of Stansted airport, which itself has good links to both Heathrow airport and London. I hope you can get something worked out, borrowing a friends car for a quick blast is one thing, having 'your own' for a few days will allow you to appreciate the car more fully. Gerry
