I am planning to mount a pair of 5" Hella spotlamps on our +4. The car has overiders so the bumper bracket is not an option. Do people recommend using the MMC brackets - requiring 2 holes in the wing or using the lamp bolt facing backwards through one hole in the wing with 20mm washer on outside and 40mm washer on the inside. I have heard stories about wings cracking around bolt holes and wondered what the perceived wisdom of TM can offer.

I have a bumper so I used brackets off the bumper stays but my advice if you are going to mount through the wing is to use the MMC spot brackets as they are very well made, come with the rubber gasket and are at the right angle

I actually used these brackets for my spots by bending them to 90 degrees and redrilling the large hole for my bumper stays

They were such thick gauge stainless steel that it was quite a job so can recommend them as a strong mount

Another idea is if you don't want to drill the wing is to mount them on an elongated badge bar - I think Heart of England do a slightly longer one to up to the overriders and I've definately seen spot to badge bar brackets somewhere

Have been pondering this for a while for my 2011 Roadster.
Having driven at night I did not think my headlights good enough, even with "nightbreaker" bulbs.

Neither did I wish to drill the bodywork as I have an expensive paint system which even the Morgan Main Agent would not drill!

So I started looking for other mounting arrangements for a pair of driving lights. For me the 5 ins (Wipac S6066 - one option)were the least obtrusive to the clean lines of the car.
One Morgan owner has made up a pair of brackets fixed to the overrider bolts, and the Burghi bar from Italy is the other option. This is not a badge bar (which would vibrate) but is fixed to each overrider for added stability. Of course this means drilling a hole in each overrider.

I've been pondering the same! No desire to drill holes in the front wings. To be honest, for me it's more of a styling thing, the Cibie 180s and Nightbreaker bulbs give a decent performance.

The old bumper support bars used to be very useful for mounting spotlights.

I thought Morgan owners never went out at night because there are less people to watch them..?

Who said anything about driving at night !!!!!!!!!!

Reminds me of a funny story back in the 80's: We where at a local pub meeting and when it came to going home, we were all standing around in the car park to watch the lovely +8 pull out. Guess what, the owner couldn't remember where the light switch was and had to be shown.
