If we are just talking about looks; I think that painted wires look best on the 4/4 (narrower rims) whilst chrome or stainless suit the wider Plus 4s and Roadsters rims.

That's interesting

Does anyone know what and how the Morgan painted wire wheels are coated ?

Stainless is the most durable.
Chrome can rust
Paint comes off

I like stainless but now have alloys = lot less fuss to clean

I would love some stainless wheels (They'll have to wait)

I have painted black wheels already a few chips and some has flaked off on the inside. Cleaning them this week shows scratches where they were previously cleaned in the past (probably fine grit in bristles or cleaning cloths. A lot of what looks like overspray on the insides as the finish is speckled - they are going to need some serious attention and probably 2-3 layers of wax to finish them off.

The MWS cleaner is very good and does not need much agitation to get it working on the grime.

I think they'd be better with a plastic coating something like teflon would be great maybe?
