Exactly: probably also worth epoxy bonding the reinforcement plate to the body so that structurally it becomes part of the body.

I'm wondering whether it might not be a good idea to transmit some of the load and vibration down to the chassis rail, rather than adding to the weight being carried by the aluminium skin? Forgive the rubbish sketch, but would it be worth considering something like this that could be bonded with something like Sikaflex to the chassis rail - always assuming it's reachable, of course.

Good plan...

Of course what they should have done is put a plate welded to the chassis rail behind the alloy skin so that the exhaust bracket is bolted through the body to the bracket.... banghead

Haven't drilled the holeyet, until Morgan have replied.
I agree ref the chassis plate. May be able to use seatbelt fixing point.

Yes you have to use a magnifying glass and drill the end of the crack to give it a rounded stress-point free end. Thats what they do to planes I beleive. I am sure MDH knows more about this!

I have heard of them cracking before. Hence why the g56 kit uses an uprated exhaust mount.
Id the crack coming from an echaust mount hole?
I wonder if rubber grommets/ washers would be ki der to the interface?

Did mmc fix your light cluster?

That would have required exacting tolerances between the skin fabricating and the chassis!

The philosophy is to bolt onto the thing which is bolted onto the other thing which hangs off that thing which is stuck onto this thing.

To be fair I think my aluminium shell is on the whole a beautiful piece of design and craftmanship

My concern is the ongoing vibration so I think some method of stopping the vibration is paramount.

I was waiting for a response from Morgan ref the crack which is over 3inches long, before I drilled any wholes in the body. However none has been forthcoming so I have drilled and replaced the plate with additional support holes. The whole area is now much stiffer. Interestingly the exhaust bobbins on this side of the car appear to be much stiffer than the drivers side. The only real answer will be a chassis mounted bracket.
