which supplier/product did you go for in the end, Matt ?

MorganMatt did you find a USA supplier or did you order from over seas. and what was part number. I have the black headlights and would want to upgrade one day.

I bought them from Stafford Vehicle Components. Ed at SVC (in UK) allowed me to substitute some Lucas PL700 lenses with the side (or running) lights added. I know they're not correct, but thought it would be fun to try them. Since the lamp housings are very similar to factory, I can always revert to my stock lenses. To configure this non-standard option, I simply emailed him directly and he put together a quote.

The installation was more than I anticipated. I had to cut, solder, and splice the wires on as terminals would not fit through the bolt. I tried removing the crimped contacts from the plastic plug, but the new lamps had an even smaller hole through the bolt.

Next I found that the original lamps would not just pull out after I unbolted them. It turns out that the threaded shaft has a swaged dimple that was done post factory install. I ended up drilling the dimple out from the front. If you look at the black tube the posts are mounted through, you will see a dimple on the front surface. I simply drilled there.

Ed at SVC made the transaction and shipping to US painless. Payment was done via PayPal. Shipping took about 10 calendar days. Packaging was good.

My car has a grub screw in the black tube the lamps fit through. It is a 7/64 allen key. I'm not sure whether I should tighten it before or after tightening the nut when adjusting the lamps.
My R/H lamp has a lose rivet, the lamp vibrates & will not stay in adjustment. There is a tongue inside the lamp which goes from the shell into a slot in the threaded adjustment post to stop it turning. On mine the tongue is distorted.
I reckon I need a new lamp but MorganMatt I cannot see how the terminals fit through the post, are the lamp end or car end soldered on after fitting lamps?
RedThree I think you had a new modified headlamp, did you or Revolutions fit it?

It was indeed Revolutions that fitted the new one. Same thing; the little internal tang had deformed and no longer stopped it from rotating. All done at the last "in warranty" service so I'm afraid I can't answer the detail questions about the terminals.

The screw is likely in place to lock everything down once installed and adjusted.

No screw used on mine. Just a simple dimple that swaged the whole in in place. A drill and a 3/16 drill make short work of it. I suspect I could tap and put a screw in to insure no rotation.

For the wiring, I had to cut and splice the new ones in place after the lamp was mounted. Used shrink tubing to keep it all neat and tidy.

I did notice the anti-rotaion tab was bent a bit, so fixed it with a quick re-strike.

Overall, the job took 1.5 hours at a very leisurely pace. Being a mechanical engineer, I enjoy servicing and modifying my cars.

You might consider grinding out the old rivet from the inside and replacing it. A cherry rivet should do a great job albeit not esthetically perfect.

Tim I've been trying to find out that allen key size , so thanks for that ! nothing from any of my sets seems to fit ...
As for the rivets I've had to replace several on each side , another quality part !
