Hi folks,
I am eagerly awaiting the delivery of my M3W, purchased through the helpful folks at Liberty Motors in Seattle Washington, USA. One of the first things I'd like to install is a quality immobilizer and I'm curious what many of you have installed or wish you'd installed as a theft deterrent.
Thanks in advance for you feedback and comments.
Sincerly, Midgie Man

That the steering wheel is removable is something that worries me. Thankfully it's a secret only known to a few, but everytime I leave my M3W parked in the public street I do consider the cost of a new Brooklands wheel vs making it known that it can be removed.
One day parked in downtown Lisbon WITHOUT the wheel is making known to thousands that the wheel is removable.
So far I have left the wheel on the car, trusting nobody knows how easy is to just ... take it.
What would you do?

I have the same worry Mario!
However, my Brooklands wheel was bought later, and I still have the original, so I just put that on when I'm going anywhere that I'm concerned about parking. Or I put the tonneau cover on when I leave it.
If you think about it there are a lot of parts that are easily removeable, including the seats....

Someone should design a folding/collapseable/component M3W steering wheel that can be packed down for ease of carrying

Maybe the Italian solution of years gone by. A length of heavyweight chain (as used on motorbike locks) shackled to the floor and wrapped round the wheel with a big high security padlock. That should secure the car and the steering wheel!

The stock immobilizer that Morgan offers for their build looks to be OK. I've got one and it does work. I've never worried about parking it and walking away. I do, however, remove anything I don't want to walk without me. The removable steering wheel is a non-issue as a great majority of people are completely unaware that they can be removed!
As for actually stealing the car another issue comes into play more and more; the young up and comings don't know how to drive stick... grin
In the grand majority of cases where I parked it and I was able to just watch what others do, it is very interesting. Most are just curious. There is a great deal of respect for this car on the order of 'look but don't touch'.
The other aspect of this is that they are so rare. They stick out like a sore thumb. They are highly attractive in that people notice them. Steal this puppy and people are going to notice and take note of it driving by.
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

Agreed Michael H, no one is going to steal a car like this as it is just too noticeable. I have had 3 other similar, from a security point, 3 wheelers over the years and never had a problem. That said, I do have the standard Toad immobiliser fitted and it seems to work OK and has not been a problem.

That should secure the car and the steering wheel! Not quite as secure, but I use a serious padlock (tougher than bolt cutters) and a thick security cable (meant for bikes) on my two speeder. Part of the reason for doing this is I can run the cable through a sleeve of my leather coat and thus not need to take it with me.
