Of course it could be a V6 rather than a straight 6. The packaging is a lot better and the F Type Jaguar V6 could be a rather nice engine for it! Perhaps Jaguar engined Aero6 and Aero8 I agree..but the article in EVO this month by Jon Wells doesn't support this idea. Wells is quoted as saying: "As for engines we work very closley with BMW, so without saying too much, we're looking at future plans for our engines and drivetrains. Working closely with giants like BMW really helps" He later compares Aero Racing with BMW's M Power motorsport activities. Based on everything I read I feel that BMW are treating Morgan as more than a customer, as they do with Alpina. Inevitability it suggests to me that we will see more of BMW and less of Ford.

And there's already a lot of other BMW stuff on the car so switching all that to another manufacturer would be a big job indeed...

Exactly, on the new Aero 8 BMW provide: Engine, gear boxes, differential, power steering, air conditioning, steering column/lock, steering column controls (3), instrument dispay, much of the electrical system including charging, fuel pump and gauge sender, plus bulb failure warning system - and probably more. Modern cars are so tightly intigrated electronically that to change the engine and gear box from BMW to Jaguar would be almost like starting over. The Aeros are probably stuck with BMW power now.

BMW power and other bits is fine by me I totally agree. I just can't see a straight six BMW engine, lovely though they are, fitting in to an Aero chassis without some major work to prevent a nose heavy car. A V6 is a much easier option.

Yup, I can't help thinking it would be a much easier task to transfer the Roadster power train into an Aero chassis than to try and make a straight 6 fit...

Does the Aero "need" a V8??
The 4-pot in the 328 produces 240PS - I am pretty sure that could be massaged to 300ps without too much hassle. That would give you a lightweight Aero too.

I love all engines as long as they sound as they should in a sports car. I personally would not want to buy a Morgan that sounded just like any other car.

My bet is a BMW engine - and as they were going to put the straight 6 ion the Eva GT which had a modified Aero chassis, I bet they have some idea of what will fit, or what it takes to make it fit.
It wouldn't be out of tradition to do a front-end re-style and call it the S6, especially as the front end is very little changed for the forthcoming new model...
