In the industry, you would normaly either polish or pickle and passivate those welding colours. But I personally like them.

True. There are also some hand-built cars (I'm thinking of stuff like Bob Petersen's Dartmoor Coupe etc), the price of which make even the most expensive Morgans look like small change.

My kids' orthodontist says it is merely improper welding. Costs no more to do it right.

Gomog explains it in detail.

Maybe your kids orthodontist is also a welder? Anyone who welds stainless knows what's already been said by others is correct. As to GoMog, it's been known for a long time that GoMog is both original and good, sadly what's original is not always that good and what's good isn't always original. The Webmaster had this habit of adding his name to articles written by others and in the process cocking up much of the information. Pointing this out normally got the person thrown off his website, some of us also walked.....

Hand assembled v Hand built. Anyone care to explain the difference?

Hand assembled is Meccano, hand built each part is manufacture by hand with love and care, then assembled perfectly.

Ah right. A Three Wheeler then, whilst the rest are in the main hand built...well bodies.

I think one could probably take the distinction too fair. There isn't any such thing as a fully hand built car, where every single component is created from raw materials by the manufacturer using hand tools. Some componentry and some machinery is always necessary?

To my mind, it actually doesn't matter a great deal one way or the other. What we do know is that anywhere that humans are involved, then imperfection results. We also know that perfect robot built cars like my honda work brilliantly but lack character.

The real trick is to balance the imperfections

I have just seen the pic of the new Aero 8 with soft top on Facebook.

I hereby renounce any stupid things I might have said about lack of quality and the irrelevance of V8s, if I could find the necessary dosh I'd have one like a shot.

It is positively pant-wettingly gorgeous.
