The narrow bodied GDI has narrower wheels with the high profile tyres so should have quite a bit extra ground clearance over the wheel/tyre combination of the standard car.

I have two lethal speed bumps in the road I live....a sleepy close in West Sussex, not sure why the authorities felt they were needed...my previous 4/4 cleared without issue. I collected my shiny Plus 4 from Williams last June, drove all the way back from Bath to Horsham, West Sussex without incident only to 'crash' into the first of the two said speed bumps in my own road, yards from the garage and safety....since then have got the knack of stopping and literally easing the car over each one, that way it clears, just. Any slight loss of focus and thus more speed and it connects....

If you want to hear swear words you may or may not have heard before, ask an ambulance driver what he/she thinks of sleeping policemen.

Driving the shortest distance from our house to a friends requires negotiating 24 of the little b*****s through two villages. If we're in the Mog we always take the longer route to avoid them.

Quite right. 6cm clearance at the cross-member low point on mine. The "Pillow" type is never ever to be straddled. Incidentally, that goes for road-kill, too - very messy!

Sorry to hear that. A few months ago our road was re-surfaced. They made a lovely job and, thankfully, no speed humps installed. Now they are coming back to do the pavements. Slightly worrying. Currently if I leave the drive at a certain point the spare wheel carrier grounds as I cross the gutter and go ever so slightly uphill onto the road. The new pavement surface will improve that - or make it worse. Waiting with fingers crossed...
