Thanks DayMog that's an interesting suggestion. The crucial issues as I see them are getting in and out (solved with a detachable wheel), the distance between my knee, the dash and the wheel/indicator and what I do with my feet when I'm not changing gear. The cut out well for my heels could be an interesting suggestion. I'm certainly not as tall as you friend and my legs won't be as long so this could definitely free-up an inch or more of additional room with very little fundamental change to the car.I'd like to avoid changing the seats if possible but maybe change foams and density on my side and lower it slightly and with the floor change this may be enough.

All good suggestions...keep 'em coming!

The lowered floor is a great idea, and could be done 'very simply' innocent with a shaped metal insert in the floor (think oven tray). It would need a thin sheet of rubber sticking on to avoid 'slipping'. I wonder if another inch or so could be found at the rear bulkhead. I can't recall without looking how much space is available behind the vertical wooden panel behind the seat, but if the cross timber frame (along the top edge) can't be modded, you might consider a metal cross frame replacement with a metal panel from that to the floor. If it was done in stainless sheet (like the bulkhead) it would look quite 'normal' and could maybe provide that extra inch. That is not a simple job though. thinking

Lots of helpful suggestions from the forum, Steve Simmonds and the dealers but nothing quite conclusive enough yet. "Yes I'm sure we could find another inch here or there" doesn't quite inspire enough confidence to sign an order and then start modifying in the hope of achieving what I want. I think the next step is getting back in a car and working our exactly how much change is needed to get me comfortable and then whether its affordable!

I'll keep you all posted.

Hi Andy,
I have a roadster. I lowered the seat considerably by removing the wooden runners. I then took the seat squab and replaced the foam with memory foam which is thinner and fantastically comfortable. When I replaced it I left the back supports hang which lowers the base of my spine another inch and makes the backrest be in a much more ergonomic position. This solved my problems completely. With a previous 4/4 I cut away just a little of the curved frame of the seat so that it would go back over the rear suspension casing. In the 4/4 I had before that I simply hammered the casing which lowered it enough to let the seat go back!
There's always a way with Morgans!
PS lowering the seat obviously increases knee room but also has the effect of placing the top of your head below the windscreen thus reducing buffeting and making the bonnet seem even longer!!
Don't think about it - - order one.
