Wait till you fit brake reaction bars it will rub both sides... and have less lock!

It should rub on both sides there's something wrong!

A rough guess is the steering rack is not set up central you have more lock on one side than the other.

As stated by others Traditional Morgans are exempt from the front wheels rubbing at MOT.

The brake reaction bars on my Roadster had nice polished patches where the tyre rubbed on full lock. But as the patches were even in size and position I assumed it was OK.
The car passed 2 MOTs with them fitted and without any comment from the Test station.

If the rubbing isn't even either you don't use one lock as much as the other or there is something out of adjustment....

I never had a Mog where the wheel rubbed on the steering column. Take it back ot the dealer. It should rub on the chassis member on the wear plate

Earlier cars sometimes had a roller or scuff plate fitted to the chassis to prevent too much lock being applied.

Mine had scuff plates (angle bar) bolted to the chassis. I now have roller stops from Melyvn Rutter. [/quote

Yes, I had the same fitted.

I liked the rumble when on full lock. but that was on original 4.5J rims and 165/80 tyres.

I had 5.5J wheels made and fitted 195/60 tyres now it does not happen, I miss the rumble.

Same here. It's never been an issue in the last 15 years, either from a driving point of view or MOTs, where every tester I've used knows about the exemption for Morgans.

It's certainly worth getting your dealer to have a look at, but I wouldn't be in the least surprised if you get the 'This is normal for Morgans, they all do that' response.

Thanks for all the useful comments .I have no scuff marks on my chassis rails .The steering column cover sticks out much further than the chassis and the tyre is scuffing the front of it ,it is held on with self tapping screws so I will see if my dealer can adjust it.On a much happier note after my 1000 mile service I had a Cold Air Induction kit fitted .
