I had my revenge many years ago the fire brigade were doing a practice at the hospital I worked at. They had a hose across the road, with 4 wooden wedges to drive over, so as not to compress the hose. Went over very slowly then felt hose rubbing on under tray, followed by a whoosh. back wheels went over the wedges and off I went. The rearview was a very impressive fountain from where the bolt ends that stick out below the floor had lacerated the hose. Had to put my foot down to escape the irate firemen!

Sadly I'm not slim nor have long arms! With the car on a flat surface in the garage I used a piece of wood and either a profiler or a jam jar with screw on lid (to adjust height so it would just fit) and a measuring stick (ruler).

Richard. The minimum ground clearance under the centre of the car, mid way between the front and rear axles is 100mm in may countries. Our Plus 4 had only 90mm when we got it home due to incorrect front springs and poor quality rear springs that were fitted by Morgan at that time. All were changed under warranty.
I believe that questions have been raised by the authorities in Australia over the compliance of the Plus 4 ride height.
At the time I did some research on speed hump standards. If I recall correctly the old standard was 9 cm plus a possible 1 cm. This was changed to 8 cm plus a possible 1 cm.
I have heard of people making successful claims against local authorities for damage caused by speed humps that were excessively high.

After living in Germany for 8 years I can see it happening... The commentary is priceless...the last words are "kids, kids"... Have to say that the Germans are generally better at OCD than we are...

How true especially in the North. The liquid bread in Bavaria seems to mellow them.

Technology is a wonderful thing! Must admit (and touch wood) that my 4/4 generally clears these obstacles as long as approached slowly. Though I did bottom out the end of the exhaust on a particularly steep uphill left hand hairpin many years ago. The marks are still on Stanley = patina
