Well, I didn't make mine break on purpose  The stock bobbins failed one month after I got my car and I also went through 3 sets of the bobbins you suggested. It was silly for Morgan to mount the rectifier where they did. It's much happier in it's new place on my car now.

I'll fight the good fight to keep my original rectifier alive as long as possible. Indeed, I have a fairly stout nylon tie wrapped around mine, after replacing three of the bobbins. Will go with the HD unit next ...

I've purchased some bobbins from Moss as they are used on the classic Mini for the exhaust. They were very cheap
Regarding the rectifier, I feel more comfortable using the CE rectifier than the Harley style. I know little about electricity, but the CE rectifier seems a little more elegant solution than just dumping excess voltage to ground, Maybe a little more gentle on the alternator too? I will admit I have a Harley rectifier carried for emergencies.

After going through many bobbins in the last 7000 miles; I've taken the plunge this weekend and modified my rectifier mount to take fully isolated through bolt bushings.
The backplate needed to be drilled out to 11.5mm holes where the existing mounts were fixed, then M6x45 skt cap screws with Nylocks and penny washers squeezed the whole assembly up.
The bushings are a urethane at 50 shore hardness. When squeezed up they provide a mounting slightly stiffer than the original but with isolation from the backplate including through the hole between the plate and the screw. With the added security of the through bolt mounting.

I got the bushings from a UK supplier as samples, but i did get prices for an MOQ purchase if anyone is interested in a bulk buy.

I put it directly on the chassis without bobins
And after 10000 miles no problem
