I would be inclined to make sure the screen gets chipped or similar and claim on your windscreen insurance which doesn't usually affect your ncb (and if it's a classic policy should be ok too)

I hope the perpetrator has a painful end...

I made the rather stupid mistake using a nyllllllon pot scourer for cleaning some sort of resin that had splashed from a passing truck off my Alfa screen. I had no idea that Scotchbrite would scratch glass.

I spent hours polishing the scratches with jewellers rouge but you can still see them if you know where to look.

I would check with my insurers to see if vandalism is covered by the glass replacement policy before starting work.
