I'm thinking of splashing out and spoiling my 2007 Plus 4, Molly, and treating her to a bit of an upgrade.
I've had her since new (I went every day to the factory watching her being built) and we've had a particularly good 12 months with trips to the Outer Hebrides and to WW1 sites in Belgium and France (for the Gheluvelt Centenary in particular which was featured in Mog Mag).
I preface my comments with the fact that I am a technical and mechanical numpty.
I was thinking of going for a sports manifold and exhaust and have been looking at the Librands products on their website.
I would welcome thoughts and suggestions from those in the know.
I'm not a crazy fast driver but like the idea of a little bit more performance. I'd like a bit more of a sporty sound but without it being too hard core (which I can imagine would get wearing on a long journey). And frankly I'd like it all to look a bit better and fancy spoiling her after 8 very happy years so far.
I'd welcome your advice as well on which is the best place to get the work done. I live on the Worcestershire/Herefordshire border but was thinking I might drive to a recommended dealer's place somewhere else in the country if need be and camp in a nice pub overnight whilst they do the work.
Many thanks Biffo

You would do well to talk to Lawrie at Williams.

You would do well to talk to Lawrie at Williams. I'd second that. I'm not sure but they may even have accommodation if you talk to them nicely. They also do their own sports exhaust system which might be worth considering.

Not sure you will get a great improvement in performance from just those mods however if you want a more sporty sound have a look at Melvyn Rutters sports silencer at £164 ! And they have THE most amazing B&B on site.

I put a pair of Melvyn's sports silencers on my Roadster....sound great and a lot, lot cheaper than fitting a Librands system.

John, I like the quiet calm of the standard units. Maybe I am getting old but would be interested in hearing yours at Shelsey to see what I am missing.

Not sure you will get a great improvement in performance from just those mods ...... With a good manifold, sports cat and silencer you would expect to get about 10 hp at the top end. That gain is not particularly noticeable because you seldom rev the engine to the red line but you should get a nice gain in mid range torque. Then it is worthwhile getting a remap to match the new exhaust system. Lets say 155hp. After that throttle-bodies (180hp), and after that a fast road cam (200hp):)

+1 I was amazed by the torque the Librands manifold released on my T16 engine +4 I suspect that the performance gains will very much depend on how inefficient the standard exhausts are on the various engines. Later engines are probably better optimised as standard.

+1 I was amazed by the torque the Librands manifold released on my T16 engine +4 ...and on my 4/4 Kent engine.
