Mine just has an o ring seal

the nitrile gloves were good at the temp but cannot withstand the compression of the cap.

I then tested nitrile sheet. I had bought it on ebay so it may be dodgy. Unfortunately after 10 minutes of testing on the car and there were signs that the nitrile was degrading. I tested it further in the oven. At 130 deg c and it started to dissolve into the oil after just 10 mins.

!!!!Dont try this at home as its incredibly dangerous... nitrile is close to cyanide.!!!!

It makes sense as it not supposed to be used over 100 degC.
im gonna try viton now... apparently it has better temp and oil resistance.

Mine just has an o ring. Its an early car but it seems to work fine.
What was fitted to yours originaly

Just don't set fire to the Viton! If you think nitrile is nasty then residues of burnt Viton could really spoil your day.
PVC or neoprene gloves required.

I originally had a different oil tank probably like yours. It was upgraded to the 2014/13 tank with the nut for talking out the oil.

these newer tanks have the metal lines to show oil depth rather than using a dipstick. Hence the cap is different.

The newer ones have some kind of rubber sheet gasket. But it deteriorated. Hence I am trying out gasket seals.

its actually quite tricky choosing the correct material because of the high operating temp and the sharpness of what it fits on. If it disintegrates on a long journey and blocks the feed pipe it wont be good so I want to find whats best.

a tough matrial that can form a good seal with perfect oil and high operating temp resistance.

If it is a temperature problem: try silicon.
More heat resistant than rubber or "plastic"
