New to the forum and wonder if the bushes also can give same problems when changing to 3rd and 5th gear is almost impossible on a +4 from -97?

I found that renewing the bushes holding the gear change remote improved the overall gear changing experience, but the grating noise comes from the bottom of the remote hitting the propshaft uj when the gear lever is pulled backwards I.e. 2nd and 4th. 3rd and 5th entails pushing the gear stick away and so tending to lift the bottom of the remote. So renewing the bushes may help but........
