Eric, Eric,
don't fret so, you know the book is in you somewhere, it just needs teasing out. Once out you will feel so much relief and all those who know you will be lost in admiration.
What shall the book be, is that the question?

I drove my 3 Wheeler for the last time on Saturday, up my steep drive, half a mile down the road, on to a trailer. It has a new owner.
Today I have placed an order for a 4/4. Apologies if I missed something Peter, but is this a sudden change of heart or was the M3W always going to be a relatively short term device for you? I re-read Chapter 18 of my book! It sounds as if you re-read it having forgotten to put your rose tinted spectacles on. I have just re-read that chapter. I still want one, but as an alternative to a classic bike, not as a serious mode of transport. The Plus 8 is a serious, if extravagant, mode of transport and is the cause of my decision to get rid of the BMW. Enjoy your 4th wheel.

I drove up to the middle of Vermont today. A perfect Spring day. Blue skies, puffy white clouds, low humidity, a bit brisk and few bugs. I'll take it. I can only imagine that the terrain I drive through is very much like what is around Malvern. Rolling hills, single lane roads and not much traffic. A good day.
Only sour note was that the few pubs I was hoping to stop in were shut down in preparation for this weekend.
The roads were mixed, as always. Some are a joy and the rest are trying to devolve back into gravel. Winter was hard here.
Only thing of note was that I was coming around a blind curve and right in the middle of the transition I hit a patch of 'washboard', a condition where the road actually ripples just like a washboard. I'm running Blockleys at 27psi at the front and the rear is stock and I just about lost it! Rear end decided to have a mind of its own and show me just who is boss!
After a few more miles I came back to the home turf to stop in at a local grill/bar and just sat and contemplated life during two pints of a local brew.
This car has been such a joy but every now and then it has the ability to throw a big 'fuck you!' in your face and laugh all the while.
Reminds me of an old girl friend...

Michael I guess your heart is now running in a different grove. We have many broken roads but I've not come across washboard. Plenty of single track roads with passing places near me. Your drink drive laws must be more relaxed than in Scotland. Here you had better not risk more than 1/2 pint but then our pints are a bit bigger than yours. They recently reduced the limit in Scotland so its now lower than England, Wales & Northern Ireland.

Tim Tim, We have tough drinking laws as well but I was in my own home town and the one State cop is very easy to locate. This is a very sparsely settled area right now as the snow and skiers are gone and the Summer people won't really hit here until the end of June. It is still too brisk for their desert warmed bones. A pint is a pint is a pint! Today will be a better day. I have been taking the roads easy and I know them well but every Spring we have to be reintroduced. Their faces have changed over the Winter. The deep frost can do terrible things. Michael

A pint is a pint is a pint!
Not so, an US pint is about 20% less than an imperial pint

A couple of pictures from last weeks trip to the Picos de Europe in Northern Spain where it was generally cold and occasionally wet required the use of heated jackets and helmets all the time. 800 uneventful miles, one split rectifier bobbin found on return home.
