fuses all checked, all ok. the light still worked. but no reaction by turning the key or pushing start. battery ok, but empty. rectifier still works. put a booster on the baterie and started the engine. while running, checked the output of the alternator. result: 0! on the dashboard, it showed 11.7 volts with running engine. the service mechanic agreed on the alternator failure. after 10min boostering the baterie, i could start and drive again. had to do that for loading the 3wheeler on the truck and later back from it into garage of them.
had alternator failure because of centernut untightened. The whole thing moved backwards into compensator. result was new alternator, new compensator and engine out job.
...i got lucky! instead of a alternator or rectifier failure, they (morgan dealer) found out it was a connection cable and plug between those two. it was tie wrapped to the mainframe. result after 7300km of vibrations was disconnection and material death of these cable and plug. so folks: take a look underneath your m3w and cut out all the tie wrapps. let hang the cabels a little loose for compensating all the bone shattering vibrations!!! i did this. took me 15min. easy to do. great impact!
