Son in law and MissW go to France next week. Whats the score regarding tolls? Pay by card? Pay by cash?

Card every time.... very quick (no code required - just in and out) and the queues are much shorter. Plus, you don't need to worry about change....
I have a blipper, but you need a couple of weeks to set that up.

Thanks Neil, I'll pass that on. Might be worth asking the card supplier if they charge for every transaction, I had a major row with Barclaycard when they tried to charge me a currency transaction fee for every toll both charge, they said each one was a separate purchase and so incurred the charge, after a lot if argument they agreed to add them up per day and make one daily charge.....then they actually did not charge?? They just converted into Sterling and charged? No idea on their rules and the call centres don't always seem to know either.

In theory you should get a marginally better exchange rate on your card than from getting cash.... I used both a MasterCard and a Visa debit and had no additional charges. To be honest, even driving north to south, coast to coast, is not exactly a huge amount. Speed and convenience is key for me rather than sitting in a long queue. 'Cartes de Credit' is the way to go.

Couldn't agree more. Just back from a biking tour & the hassle of taking bike gear off to faff about with money is a real downer. Just kept my card & the ticket in my jacket Nelson pocket & wish, bosh, bash. Job jobbed! No charges according to my mobile banking.
