All prices plus vat of course.

My options must be well over £20K - and could easily top £30K (including vat). Have to say there is a little cynicism in things like having to pay over a grand for half decent carpets.

While the options lists for Bentleys etc. are long and costly I do thing we're being asked to pay for things that really should be on the base car. I fear that my interest in replacing my old S3 with a new one is waning a little (although the carpets on that are shocking quality too (but there's less of it on show).

But, hey, might change my mind when I see one or wait for the 'options are free' deal...???

My Aero in 2009 was about £50 under £80,000 (I have the hard top which was a £3k option) so £105k in what will be 7 years later once delivered isn't too big a jump.

What was the base plus 4 price during08/09 compared to now?

Options pricing is very ambitious and bordering on extortionate ..

but they have to somehow recoup margin lost from lowering base price susbtantially

A base car is the best deal. My total options price is about £6k.

If it wasn't for the near impossibility of owning a big V8 in Italy I would order the base version and have Borghi option it up. It couldn't cost more than what Morgan will charge.

My options list works out at £20k + VAT. So guessing my car to be around £104k.

BUT...when I consider the other cars I looked at (Porsche 911 Targa 4S, BMW i8, F-Type R and Mercedes AMG GT) at similar money, whilst I know they will potentially suffer fewer glitches....They will not turn heads like a Morgan does.

A Morgan has a certain panache that none of those other cars come close to IMHO. There is the safe option, then there's an Aero 8 and whilst those other cars are extremely nice cars, for their buck they do not bring that something that a Morgan does.....and that's priceless. Again, IMHO.

Well said Rob, and not surprised you've got to £20K plus vat. I do like the sound of the hard-top but will it fit any better than previous hard tops??

More importantly will the soft top be watertight or is that a "wish too far" for a Morgan, even if it costs the best part of £100k. I'd want the Aero 8 for top down long distance touring but it's inevitable rain will be encountered at some point and I'd prefer it to stay on the outside of the car , not on my knee , elbow etc etc

ROFLMAO - even after a Swiss refit of the windscreen mine still bubbles - and will happily drip through the rear of the roof panels. You don't get that sought of engineering with a Porsche!!
