British garages are designed for Austin 7's and A35's, or at least new build ones are!
It constantly confounds me that for years new build developers have still been building garages for 1950's size cars. It may well be that most people don't put their tintops into a garage these days but it's still useful to have the option.
Some friends of ours downsized to a 5 bed new build house and a development where the the double garage is a tandem garage, neither of which their medium size cars will fit into the garage and if they park both on the drive provided with the first car right up against the garage doors the second car hangs over the edge of their drive into the cul de sac for which there are no pavements and nowhere to park as every where you try is going to block somebeody from getting in and out of their drives. All that for £500,000. Not of my money!
