A day at the Wilton Classic and Supercar event: a good, but short run to join up with a few others from LogMog: most were at Mog 15 in North Wales.
The event...well clearly the organisers attempt to split a one day event into a weekend hadn't really worked. Saturday was "Classic" and Sunday is "Supercar". Instead of the 10,000 or so last Sunday there were less than half that number. Quite a number of quite grumpy traders....
Next year? I don't think so.
The major change this year was that one of the founders of the show was dropped and that was why the format was changed, as Wilton alone are now organising. In addition, the format for participants was altered in that previously there was an early morning meet in London, then Brooklands, a drive to a hill climb for untuned runs, with bacon butties laid on, and then a convoy to Wilton to arrive at 12.00 hrs,
This way there was something for everyone, but there is now no morning event. I did get an invite again this year for SP1, but had committed SP1 to MOG 2015, so had to decline. Mind you if I had not done this I wonder if I would have bothered attending?

I think that the organisers need to "go back to the drawing board" and work out what the Wilton Classic and Supercar event is and what it is intended to achieve.
This year Saturday was supposed to be all about Classic cars, the parade with Tiff doing his usual entertaining commentary was good, but the cars were something of a mixed bag. In the display area there was one Morgan +8, two in the MSCC area were better examples. There were a few super-cars, but only classic ones...whatever that means.
Much of the rest of the display area was for car dealers, with few other classic car clubs. The MSCC display with 9 cars was one of the largest, but was positioned off to one side. As the organisers wanted to charge double for attending 2 days it seems some clubs were not prepared to give up the time and money to be there for 2 days and didn't go at all.
I felt that by charging club exhibitors almost normal entry price and expecting them to pay for and give up 2 days rather than one, the organisers had rather killed the goose that lays the golden egg.

Funny old thing placing the Mogs behind the Marque stuck out of sight at the visitor entrance when on their own site last years cars were used as part of their own advertising.

Attended the London Classic car show yesterday 260 miles round trip. 60 cars on show but only two Morgans. Blue sky all day and a slight nip in the air, perfect driving weather.
