I have a problem with the Drivers side door lock on my 2012 Plus 4 Supersport. The small black lever that locks/unlocks the door is stuck/jammed in the up or locked position so consequently I cannot open the door from either the inside or outside! What is worse, its the Driverside Door! Any advise or knowledge would be gratefully received, thanks.

You've obviously tried the key in the lock?

The key locks the barrel in the external door handle and has no influence on the actual mechanism. I actually removed the door handle and it made no difference. I tried banging the black lever with a rubber hammer but I am afraid it will snap off or bend because it looks fragile.

I had the same problem, I squirted WD40 inside and eventually freed up the mechanism, no problem since.

Press the door inwards by applying pressure to the door handle as you try to slide the lever down.

I think Ken's suggestion is a good one. Clearly the issue isn't related to the lock or the outside handle, so it would seem that it's being caused by the latch tongue possibly dragging too much on the inside of the striker plate doodas in the door frame. My guess is that the door has been set up to close too tightly.

I would start by standing outside the car, pressing the door inwards with my knee whilst simultaneously jiggling both the locking latch and the inner handle. If that works then you might get away with a good dose of graphite lube.

If that doesn't work, you can unscrew the latch mechanism from the inner face of the door to get the thing off, then spend a happy afternoon adjusting the catch position in the door frame to set it correctly.

Thanks for all your suggestions, Hamwich was the closest! I had to remove the door panel or card held in place by about 8 small phillips screws, unscrew the 4 dome nuts(7/16th) and that allowed me to swing the door open but leaving the mechanism still attached ty the B post. I then drilled the 4 blind rivets on the back of the lock assembly, removed the backing plate and manually release the catch. The metal cam on the small locking lever had got jammed, so a good lube and put back in the reverse order. Total time, about 1 hour plus. There is always something to do on a Morgan!

Well done, that was a resourceful solution.
