I "retired" at 45.....although I suppose as I drew my pension at 50, 50. I've never once regretted it. It gave me a chance to do all the things I'd dreamed of, for example making a "living" as an artist and spending precious time with my wife before she popped her clogs.
I say I didn't regret it, if honest I missed some of the banter hence me now working part time at the factory.

I retired a year ago for the second time!
First was 9 yrs ago but went back to work after few months with aim of funding a "me car".
Ended up with a Morgan.
Yippee!
Now aged 61 and loving it!
My initial aim when in my 20's was retire at 55.
Nearly managed it but changes over the years meant slight adjustments.
The long term financial plan worked ok and a good opportunity to retire came so....here I am.

A bit of thread drift here but I must admit I could stop now due to the pension changes. I have a discussion with the boss on Tuesday about a revised role & if I don't like the direction it could be time to go

Just back from a short drive to fill up with petrol. Car is looking quite shiny in the sun.
drive

As for retirement. I left work on my 62nd birthday due to health issues, (having struggled on for the previous 2 years). I too miss the banter, but on a day like today I just can't imagine being at work.
