This forum has been remarkably balanced in comparison to others. The thing to always remember is that when someone complains about something, in general before the Internet was used for all things, they would reach 14 people before settling down. When one has praise for something 1-3 people will be reached.
When certain forums have been allowed to turn into snarkfests I have been the first to point out the snarkiness before finally abandoning them. They are a waste of time as useful information disappears.
For all of its problems, my September 2012 build is still a joy and delight when all things work. I have thought about selling it but... What would I replace it with? Most every annoyance has been dealt with and the final sprocket issue is being done as I type this. I took the Super Max neoprene conversion to my dealer with the car to swap out along with a bunch of timely maintenance issues. I will report on that when I have it back next week.
The issue of costs always comes up. I have a slightly different viewpoint on this. I am not rich enough to keep a stable of cars nor do I have any great skill in working on them. I bought this car to drive it into the ground. So there. The other kind of thinking is about just how do you buy a house? One group buys a house for its speculative value. What can they get for it when they decide to turn it around. The other group buys it to become a home. Resale value becomes secondary. They are both valid. I have built homes that I poured my heart and money into where, due to unforeseen events, I had to let them go. I took a bath and moved on. I do the same with cars. It is a love affair and price is no object. I know there is another way to look at cars but I really don't care. Someone here said to keep all your receipts for parts and work done in a box and never look at it again. Works for me.
This thing has clocked nearly 18,000 miles and should be good for many more. I intend to add to that!
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

A lot of good sense from all of you, and while I also have a (Oct) 2012 car from new and have had fewer problems than many, with only 4,400 miles on the clock I am expecting quite a few more. I drive mine rather gently which probably helps! The Aero 8 gets thrashed!
But I intend the keep the little b*gger because I too wouldn't know what to get in its place. My son wants me to dump both Morgans and get a McLaren or Lambo and I doubt the ownership experiences would be cheap for these things either!
It's been a tougher experience than I hoped for and I'm sure many including dealers and the factory and management feel the same, but the M3W has been an enormous part of Morgan's survival with Aero style cars selling too slowly and trads too from what I can see.
And every time I get in either of my lovely Mogs I fall in love again (unless it's raining or there's a new noise from the M3W!)
If you have an early M3W keep it, gradually make it better and enjoy it (if at all possible) is my humble advice.

And very good advice IMO - IF you can survive the journey!!

I don't see the forum as polarised. Even those with a catalogue of problems are generally remaining upbeat. If anything the forum is amazingly tolerant of the many problems the M3W has. A sorted earlier car may be fine, but as has been correctly stated, many cars have covered very low mileages and hence the problems may not even have appeared let alone been fixed. Agreed! Although I sold my M3W I would still buy another one. Now that most of the development issues have been fully resolved. Its a great car. Different.Fun.Engaging.

Just out of interest I had a look at the 3 wheelers listed on AutoTrader at the moment and was somewhat surprised at what low mileages the cars had done. I consider mine to be low mileage but the owners of these cars must have spent most of their time just looking at them!
Year______Miles_____Price 2012_____1,570_____£24,950 2012_____600______£28,500 2012_____1,870_____£29,500 2012_____995_______£27,995 2013_____384_______£27,556 2014_____1000______£31,950 2013_____650_______£27,620 2012/13___285______£28,500
This last one is an odd one. It's obviously an early car which they state is unregistered and will need to go back to Morgan for a PDI (code for a complete rebuild?)

Looking for another Morgan!
