I came across this on Jalopnic in an article about the Alfa 4C.......thought it very apt for we Morgan owners!

It is definitely the connection with the road, the car and the elements that I enjoy the most with that little sense of danger that keeps the heart racing

I thought I was weird and possibly the only one doing that! ;-). Never told anyone before but I always do it, did it on my bikes and it goes back to my childhood when my dad would tap the dash top of his Ford Y model at the end of the day and say 'Thanks Bess'. He said one day that it was in relief that it actually got us home, it was only an old banger but we would leave Birmingham and have Sunday's at the coast in that old car. In his latter years I asked him how this was possible, had I imagined it and he laughed and said we set off in the very early hours and got back very late.

I'm not quite as sentimental about my Mog as you other guys, but I do agree with the opinions in this piece. I've got a reasonable radio/CDplayer fitted but never use it, I'd rather hear the exhaust singing at high revs, burbling through town and pop popping on the over run.

That's spot on really. Smelling the fresh air and country smells, hearing the birds tweeting and all the sounds around you. Can't beat it. None of this comfy nonsence!

Absolutely - a sports car can do without such luxuries as airbags, air-con, bluetooth, i-pod connectivity and a good sized boot.

What do I classify the Supersport as now?

What amazes me is that when you look at the manufacturers website of a new sports car there is no figures on 0-60 or 30-50 so no real idea of performance.
Fuel consumption, emissions, gadgets, how quick the hood goes down at what speed you name it but how it goes? No.
You have to dig around at the back of car mags to get any idea of its performance. What happened to 0-100-0. This was used when few cars could reach 100 now most cars can and it is never used.
It was a good test of power, aerodynamics and braking.
