"En light enment"
Yes, quite, Morgan could learn a thing or two from Colin Chapmans' ethos. They think they have a light car, but in reality, it is still too heavy.

Mmmm. I think the new Elise is planned to be 320 bhp and 0-60 in 4.3. That makes it about 1100kgs.
I must weight my Roadster.

I have not really followed this thread as it developed but I have just read the whole thing.
We must be the exception when it comes to Morgan ownership. I do use it for short blasts at every opportunity but our main use is touring, 40,000km since March 20, 2012. We actually find it very comfortable for touring.
1. We have a stereo system and use it; usually playing an MP3 memory stick loaded with Jazz or Portuguese Fado, occasionally classic pop. True it can not be heared so well at speeds over about 110, it depends a bit on the road surface.
2. If it is more than a sprinkle of rain we put the hood up. Usually the signal to put it up is if the inside of the windscreen is getting wet.
3. If it gets too hot and we start to cook we put the hood up and turn the aircon on. Yes we do have aircon and when we have to cover 500km and the temperature is near 40°C in the shade it is not a luxury, it is a necessity. (Well almost: when it blew the circuit board for the third time had to cover the distance without)
Other than that, why did I buy a Morgan. For all the reasons others have given above. I have restored many motorcycles and a car and have no real desire to do it again. The Morgan, as a modern classic suits us just fine, but I would not object to it being just a tad more powerfull and just a tad more refined. To that end I have fitted the Suplex front suspension and will fit the rear system when it becomes available. I have fitted throttle bodies which makes the car a real hoot at higher revs (what a pity Morgan does not use the 2.5 Duratec for more mid range torque). And I would not object to ABS either.
Our experience of ownership has had its ups and downs. The downs being the quality issues and sometimes problems dealing with the factory (we bought the car direct). The ups being the enjoyment of travelling, the thrills on the hills (we have lots around here), the great people we have met and friends we have made, the fantastic dealership in Milan, and, last but not least, it is a smile machine; it makes us, little old ladies, younger ladies, children, and all young and old that have an interest in cars, smile.
