As mentioned in another thread we recently had a windscreen self destruct.
So i have taken to ignore morgan for parts and to do it myself.
Removing the old screens was harder than it seemed. They are well stuck and only let go after a judicious application of brute force.
I found a plastics company who were able to cut replacements using the unbroken screen as template. Left and right are the same and are not curved.
I decided to use 3 mm polycarbonate instead of the 4.5mm acrylic
The sealing of this thinner material and issues with using silicone with the polycarbonate provided some head scratching but eventually sorted it. Fingers crossed its weather tight.

After seeing Callums DIY write up, i have done the same but at 20 mb i will need to find somewhere to put it!

Lexan is used for bullet proof car windows (as a laminate) and for headlights

It makes you wonder why they chose Acrylic over Polycarbonate given the vast inherent strength differences, I wonder if it was down to re-polish ability?

Looks like a very neat job especially the seal.

I would say that replacing the screen can be a bit of a fiddle but if one is going to all that effort it might be better to replace with a Fairbourne Screen?

It has transformed the driving experience in my car. It is now like driving a normal sports car.I think it also improves the look of the car too. They now make a lower screen with a central bracket if you still want some more wind in your face.

I would post some pictures but I cant for the life of me work out how to post pictures on this site!

Will get round to it someday but in the meantime here's a link to Fairbourne.

Hi Matt
The Morgan Manual website is still under construction, so i have put the "What i did file" in dropbox. See url below
A signup popup box can just be closed. The file is big at 20MB so takes a little time to load.

Not been able to take the screen for a drive yet, work and rain conspire against us for the moment.

Write up is a bit of a ramble but hopefully there are some gems to be found.

Next i want to find a place to put the registration label. Previously was on inside of passenger screen but i think it is intrusive and ugly there. ( unfortunately that is the mandated position on windscreen for motor cars in NZ). Have got a motorcycle label holder, just need to find the perfect place to bolt it. In my opinion, as we have no wipers so we cant have a windscreen so the car mandate doesnt apply?? !! Most likely will put on rear numberplate along with Warrant of Fitness a la motorcycle.

Very useful write up. I too am wondering where to put the warrant and rego, especially with my small screens. I've seen the tubular motorbike ones on Trademe and might get a couple just in case I go that way

Great writeup. I was in the area adjusting my steering column and don't recall seeing a "drip shield". I can recall seeing the lower tabs on the windscreen though. Mine is a 2013. I'm curious if Morgan either forgot to install it, or something in the design changed.

Thanks for sharing!
