I have only had my M3W some 2 months, I am experiencing a few problems and have mentioned them in 2 other posts, I have it booked in for first service and warranty items in a couple of weeks time. I am a little concerned when I look at the feedback on the forum, reading many of the comments its sounds as though only skilled mechanics or others with an engineering background should consider buying one. I bought mine to drive and have fun in it, I have no mechanical background very little practical experience. It seems odd that after spending £30k plus, owners should have to start modifying the cars to bring them up to a merchantable quality, surely MMC should be authorising their dealers to do all upgrades without charge or are they exempt from all obligations covered under the sale of goods act which applies to all motor manufacturers and their dealers? Why are buyers of new M3W's content to put up with such poor build quality and make modifications to the vehicles themselves when under law MMC should be ensuring that every vehicle is "fit for purpose"
I'm guessing that every owner of a 3 wheeler has other everyday car/s, for no other reason but to emphasise my point, I can say my wife and I have probably bought 15 new cars in as many years. Of these we have had 2 with real problems, an Audi A5 and a Rangerover, the Audi had paint problems and the dealer/manufacturer agreed to exchange it for a brand new one, the Rangerover had many niggly problems and after 12 months of ownership they agreed to replace it with a new on again. Why are 3 wheeler owners not screaming at the factory? They too have legal obligations like ever other manufacturer. I will report back after mine has been to the dealer, I might have to eat my many words.

I am sure your dealer and the others in the network will do their best to satisfy on warranty issues. However like you I have read much over the last few years about the failings of the M3W and it has put me completely off ownership, as I am also an incompetant mechanic. Which is a shame because it looks such a unique and fun car. On the up side there is so much good in the Morgan portfolio and I love the look of the latest launch, the Plus 4 ARP4. Further on the upside I have seen happy M3W morganeers smiling and enjoying their machines so maybe I am over reacting. However you have made the daring plunge into ownership so here's hoping your problems are easily solved.

If my car turn up and I have any problems I'm sorry to say I will be protesting out side the gate ,and if morgan dont step up the internet will kill them ,youtube is the place to take the company down bring it on lol

Fear not!

I had a 2012 car and did have problems.

The Factory ( my dealer) were fantastic .

They fixed issue after issue - with good grace and goodwill.

I ran out of steam after two years.

BUT I would buy another one!

MMC have pretty well got this car sorted now. The dealers know all the issues.
I loved my car ..and keep looking at new ones ...even tho I now have a 4/4 sport which I also love!
I am practical - but not an auto engineer by any means but easily coped with the M3W.
Hope all this helps you to consider which way to go .

Gents, relax!

Dealers are there for any warranty issues, and anything they can't sort then the factory will followup.

Bear in mind that Charles Morgan launched the cars far too soon & that the first two years were beset with problems. Today, they are almost as foolproof as they have ever been & you don't have to be qualified mechanic or even a fortune teller to enjoy owning one.

Be realistic, though. They DO make lots off odd noises & they aren't perfect in a Honda or Toyota way, but they are a unique vehicle that you mould yourself around (and into, of course..) and if you are unfortunate enough to suffer any problems then the factory will help you.

The sad facts of the first years are well documented in Tony Dron's excellent book, and the factory are notoriously hot & cold with communication, but dealers are the key to M3W happiness.

If you don't trust or build up a relationship with your dealer, then you're putting yourself further out along that thinning branch. If you're in the UK or NZ, then you already know it's going to need more input as dealers there are thin on the ground. Here in the UK it's a different matter.

Just relax and enjoy your car without developing paranoia..!!

If you have issues give MMC a chance to sort them.

They are good people ...many who,live and breath Morgan.

They were v concerned about the M3W issues ..and fixed them.

I am just speaking from direct experience and have no reason but just to tell u and others about my journey.

MMC fulfil warranty expectations in my opinion. Apart from charging for some 2012 vehicle 'upgrades' which do jot apply to your 2014 car.

Mechanical skills help you diagnose and repair quicker to get you back on the road sooner. This becomes relevant because understandably MMC do not have the warranty and repair infrastructure of volkswagen or toyota.
it is best to order the required parts before the car goes into the dealer... so they are there already.

Otherwise you will have to wait for a repair slot. Then the parts and then fitment. Whereas, If you know whats wrong it only takes one afternoon to fix almost all problems.

But this pre-assumes you're going to have problems. There is no reason to assume you WILL have problems.

It's not for owners to tell dealers what to order, but let the dealer do the diagnosis, surely? That's what they do. If they don't, then that's a different matter.

It don't bother me I'm looking forward to getting it and making it my own ,as my background I can rebuild it as I want ,ive had 1930 cars and you need to love them and look after them ,and the m3w will fit in well ,I do agree without the forum a lot of people be up the river without a paddle,long live Morgan ,the car is now as it should have been in the beginning
