I am interested to know why my rear wheels on my +4 do not sit in the centre of the wheel arch
I have looked at many Morgan's and the wheel position does differ, some are worse than others

I realise it is the position of the rear spring hanger in relationship to the arch, but why don't they on manufacture, centralise them to the arch.
I would be interested to hear anybody's views

You can buy kits to centralise in the wheel arch...

They are all like that sir. But as Graham states, you can buy a centralising kit from Mulfab.

Wouldn't it be boring Graham if they looked the same on each side.

I bought the kit from Mulfab and as you would expect it's very well made. It uses an offset plate on each side with a hole for the leaf spring centre bolt head, with a dowel to fit the axle hole. It comes with new lower plates and the larger U bolts wich came in 'around 2006'.
The reason I'm still waiting to fit this kit is because it lowers the rear by a few mm, and I don't know whether I can live with lowered, whereas I can live with the mismatch of wheel & arch. This also changed 'around 2006'.

Yes my mate Colin has one less on the top on the driver's side to the passenger's side! I have a relatively low to medium COD level (OCD) but that would drive me nuts every time I drove it! somestick

From research done by Dan White of Suplex. At some point (I don't recall when but probably after the advent of the Plus 8) Morgan decided to move the axle forward by about 20mm (say 3/4") in an effort to reduce axle tramp. When Dan designed the 4 leaf rear springs one of the things he did was to move the axle back again. The cars fitted with 4 leaf rear springs (I think from about 2006 on?) have the wheels more central in the wheel arch. The position is somewhat limited by the fuel tank which is not far behind the diff.

Dan's more recent design of 4 leaf spring has the shorter leaves, 2, 3 and 4, biased towards the front to reduce axle tramp. This is certainly sufficient for the 4/4 and the Plus 4. I have not heard how well it works on the 3.7 Roadster which are fitted with anti-tramp bars in any case.

The axle centering kit is a great idea but I would be worried about fitting one to a Plus 4 as it would lower the car, that already has ground clearance issues, by another 8mm at the back.

I'm not sure if the Suplex rear springs are currently available but I believe the intention was to make them available through Aero Racing and selected dealers.

Lawrence, on Monday, when my Plus4 is in to you for its annual service and MOT, check out the ground clearance with the higher profile tyres.
Ride height is improved by a good 10mm 3/8inch.
