You don't need to be on the wicket but just to tempt an inept batsman to fish outside the off stump. I almost felt sorry for Australia but then I snapped out of it.

That was the point I was trying to make. Despite losing 3 wickets for under 10 runs I didn't witness any defensive batting at all.

I would have declared after being 6 down - then had an hour before lunch to use the conditions to try and even things up...how bad could it have gone?
