In the new forest in my new Roadster. 1300 miles. Accelerated hard a few times and felt there was no power. Yellow engine light has come on but is not flashing. No power above about 3000 rpm but below that it's drivable fine. Any ideas? It doesn't feel like limp home mode because it will still rev but no power. Thoughts welcome. Cheers. Ben

Is it a 3.7? Is the yellow light a spanner? If so, welcome to the club of "limpers home"! Had you just filled the tank? Does switching off and allowing the instrument needles to complete their arc before starting cure it? After having a new MFU installed to supposedly cure the problem, mine lasted all of 20 miles before doing it again. Instead of repeated limited edition attention grabbers I do wish Morgan would concentrate on their core business and get the product sorted, instead of expecting owners to do their development work for them.

No it's not a spanner it's a pictorial of an engine block. Car makes a big rattle over 3000 rpm but drives fine below that so I don't think it's limp home mode.

It could be any number of things - fuel pressure, ignition... it's a back to the dealer job I reckon. It's not an engine you can do much with yourself. It might be worth checking the fuses - but it's probably not that simple.
I had a 3.7 and it made dreadful rattles at around 3,000rpm

I've just had a look at the Mustang forums. One or two things talked about. The first is that the timing advances significantly after 3,000rpm, so make sure that the wiring is connected properly to the distributor. The second mention is the MAF sensor and although this may seem unlikely on a car with low mileage, they can go faulty. If you can temporarily disconnect the feed (look around the inlet tract and you should find it) and see if it will rev. Finally there is a suggestion that disconnecting the battery negative (or take out the master fuse) for 15 minutes will reset the ECU. All worth considering?

I'd not drive it personally. It's under warranty....get it to your dealer for them to sort out.

It could be a variety of issues, I have experienced several when testing the new ECU for MMC. Does yours have the upgrade ECU?
The ECU on start up takes signals from each camshaft sensor to set the timing, these are known to go faulty, if this is the case the engine can fire up on one bank. But will usually cut out, the other issue is if the flyby wire throttle pot develops a fualt the ECU may be getting a wrong voltage reading, and may explain why it will not rev beyond 3k, however this usually results in the engine held at 2k rpm and no throttle control, limp home mode.
The best advise I can give is get Morgan rescue to recover the car to the dealer, and get them to sort it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Couldn't find anything obvious and as it's still under warranty I'm going to try and limp back to the dealers.

This is worth a try - easy to do and could reset the ECU.
