I'm 720 miles into ownership and I've got my second problem. During a short evening drive my M3W developed a very loud vibrating sound. The following morning I had a chance to look for the sound and was surprised to find the bolts for the fan shroud were gone, presumably fallen out due to vibration. The missing bolts allowed the shroud over 2" of slop and caused it to rattle off the back of the motor. My dealer was super responsive and is getting me replacement bolts and spacers ASAP.
Welcome to ownership!

Mine dropped out after 150 miles - It's quite a known feature but obviously we're driving the cars too hard The spacers drop out so you loose them too - Obviously they're expendable stores.

Owning a M3W seems to be like owning a classic bike, they need attention. I had a Triumph Bonneville from the 1970s. It used to vibrate bits lose with tedious regularity.
So why do I want a M3W??

At the risk of stating the obvious there is one helluva lot of vibration going on with this car!
When assembling anything -or fixing as is the case here - I strongly advise using Loctite 243 Lock and Seal( or similar).
This helps significantly to stop this happening.
And double joy, its easy to use (a tiny amount goes a very long way) and ultra low cost!
When I had my older bikes a tube of this was always to hand!

As part of my preparation for racing my M3W ( Darley Moor on Saturday !! ) I check over just about every exposed bolt / nut checking for which of the little blighters is working loose and giving them a nip up. Top ones for trying to escape I find are around the cooling fan , anything in the dash area - the hex bolts holding the dash together , the small allen screws holding the leather trim , the bolts holding the rear bulkhead in place , the bolts underneath holding the floor part together. I have even had a seat belt bolt work loose. Front headlight assembly - small screw on top. Body shell to chassis tubes - front corners under bonnet. If you can see it - tweak it !
What I dont look at so regularly is the steering and the engine assemblies - I am presuming they are torqued up on nyloc nuts so should stay put. I did do the bevel box / NVH recently though , and it was worth it. Everything will need looking at at some point - nature of the beast.

Loctite is one answer but I'm loathed to do that due to the fact we're Bolting into alloy and these need to come out again without danger of stripping the threads I'm currently thinking of wore locking with stainless aircraft grade locking wire.

Good call re lock wire - over the top ( possibly ) for road use , but for racing its in the racing regs that we lock wire the oil filter and sump plugs on engine , gear box and bevel box.
Nipping up your nuts is part of the thrill of ownership I am afraid.
