I would like to hear of any recommendation's of some spares that can be carried for longer trips away.

Also what spanner sizes I need in my tool roll.

At present I carry a small dry wash and a couple of wipers.
Spare inner tube, hide mallet, filler cap oil seal, get me home puncture bottle, allen key for rear cover.

That really isn't enough if I am stuck for a part whilst on holiday. Obviously I would need a garage in certain situations but if miles away from home it would be useful having spare parts with me rather than waiting for a courier.

Zip ties and gaffer tape can be pretty useful at times! The problem is that the more you worry about the car breaking down and the various scenarios....the more you carry. I've had cars in the past where I've had a boot full of spares....admittedly old cars rather than new. Now, with the Roadster,in addition to the jack etc, it's a tool roll with appropriate scanners etc, the aforesaid ties and tape, a small number of nuts and bolts and my trusty code reader....which I need once it starts raining

I like the idea of dry wash.....that's going in!

I used to carry a tool roll with some basics. Cable ties , adjustable/s , and a set of hexes. Plus tape etc. Ironically none ever needed !!!

If you have any on board electronics , then a couple of spare relays are essential.

I also carry a couple of lengths of wire with a crocodile clip on each end to by pass suspect wiring.

Depending upon your DIY skills a digital voltmeter can also be useful.

Drywash. Essential for keeping 'the mapmog' looking in prestine condition all the time!

I had a small bottle of the stuff that came with the car (made by SLK products) and if used with a clean wipe is absolutely amazing stuff. It was a great bit of marketing by the makers to give new owners a small bottle and I now have 2 large bottles for home use and just top up the little sampler that came with the car each time I am away.

I prefer "Fast Glass" on shorter trips - it works well on paintwork with a microfibre. On longer trips I also carry water in a similar squirt bottle, with a second microfibre and a few (decent) paper serviettes which I always keep after a meal in a hotel. Plus a bottle of bird dermot softener!

I carry my RAC card.

LOL.....and there's me thinking of dry wash....like you buy in camping shops...for cleaning the hands after doing a bit of mechanicing!

When touring I carry a collapsible bucket like this, a small bottle of shampoo, a sponge, and a drying cloth. Find a nice mountain stream and bingo, clean car.

I carry a reasonable selection of tools and stuff, over the last few years the only things I've ever needed were:

- Lockwire and jubilee clips (for fixing a split exhaust hanger bobbin)
- Gaffer Tape and zip ties
- Spare fuses
- Penny washers

For on-the road cleaning, I carry a spray bottle of glass cleaner, a spray bottle of quick detailer, and a bunch of microfibre cloths.
