Janet and I went to the factory yesterday to meet Mark Ledington and decide our final spec: Firenze Red paint, Ivory leather and red carpets, six spoke silver wheels and to my total surprise an AUTO! We both drove the test car separately and each preferred the auto so decisions made just have to wait till the beginning of November for delivery. We are indebted to Jay for giving us a private tour and so much of his time during what was an incredibly enjoyable day. I must say having read all the posts on my initial order, I personally think all Morgans are equal in terms of being able to put a massive grin on your face every time you go out in them. Everyone has their own personal preferred model and long may we all continue to enjoy them.

It was great meeting up with you and Janet again and taking you around the factory....getting down on our hands and knees looking under cars etc...great fun! The Firenze Red on the car we saw looked stunning and more so out in the sun. You've chosen a nice combination. It was also great seeing Brian's car parked there...Brian....sorry if we covered it in sticky finger marks...we were trying to see how you'd had the Cibies fitted! In the past I've always favoured the Trad cars over the Plus 8 although I've always rather liked the Coupe and the later Aero 8s. We spent a lot of time yesterday studying the chassis in great depth and some of the details are beautifully executed. I've driven a few Plus 8s ( particularly Tarka...pre Tarka!) and a Speedster a couple of times and whilst they are very addictive, they've never quite done it for me....I think its more the apparent width of the car rather than anything else. But since seeing Brian's car with its Cibie Oscars fitted and rack on the back...not to mention the cut down windscreen and old fashioned hood...I've changed my mind. As mentioned elsewhere though...I think that the car wears certain colours a lot better....and in Firenze Red it certainly works. Driving up to the factory yesterday, I was followed from Worcester by Matty of MOG Mag in the black factory car....watching him in the mirror I couldn't but admire the hunkered down presence the car has (NOT Matty!) on the road. There.......I've gone and done it......I'm outed.....come out of the closet...I'm a Plus 8 groupie now

I think at your age John, such thinking is inevitable. Don't fight it.

That is going to be one goergous car... I look forward to seeing it.
One question: what finish have you specified for the dash...With Ivory inside a light wood colour could look rather special!
Oh, I always suspected that Jays would be "outed" in the end!

There.......I've gone and done it......I'm outed.....come out of the closet...I'm a Plus 8 groupie now Jays, I thin you have hit the nail on the head: because the front of the Plus 8 is the same width as the back it seems when driving to be so much broader than the other trads, where the front track is narrower than the rear. It is the space between cowl and wing that emphasises the point and why the auxillary lights on Brian's car look so good, they help balance the front end. Anyway, I'm delighted you have "come out" and joined the Plus 8 Club....
