Last outing my "SRS" warning light came ON and through multiple re-starting of the car it has not gone out. Manual says get it looked at immediately and blogs say it is a "non functioning" air bag and belt tightening system.
Anyone have this issue and how was it corrected?
I may have to take it to my local BMW dealer?

I'd try the reset button on the side of the fuse box under the hood. (Even got the language right) if this doesn't clear the light it's a dealer issue, if it does it's just the MMC electrics having a bad day.
It happened to mine a couple of times.

Our S2 has never had that light go on before I am afraid. I guess that means I had better check that the bulb has not blown.... 
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

It can be something as simple as a bit of oxidation in connectors altering the load the unit senses on start up.
I wouldn't panic just yet.
With the battery isolated reseating the airbag and seat belt wiring connectors then doing a reset after the battery is reconnected may be enough to clear the problem.

Ditto all of above, disconnect the battery for a few hours and all should be ok.
Unlikely to be a 'real' fault.

Does the Aero have belt tightening? I don't believe so, but perhaps the USA Version is different. My Aero based Plus 8 certainly doesn't.
Anyway if a re-set as described above doesn't work the most probable cause is a lose wire to the airbags, probably in the drivers one. Sadly working on airbags is specialist work: they are, after all, explosive devices.

This is the text of a post i made about a Rover Mini.

I have got to the bottom of this, and I will post the steps.
1 Finds the plugs for all the units.
2 Disconnect the battery.
3 Pull off the plugs to the pre-tenshioners, and control unit.
4 Take the steering cowl off and find the connection on the fixed part of the rotator unit, and pull that plug.
You now have a dead system, and you can start to rebuild it, but you need some resistors to simulate the nodes.
5 Buy some 2.7 Ohm resistors from Maplins and put them into the the plugs.
The system is now set to simulate all the air bag and pre-tenshioners.
6 Spray the plug and socket to the control unit and plug it in, then connect the battery and switch on the ignition.
The warning light now works correctly, switch off and disconnect the battery
7 Add the pre-tenshioners one at a time spray cleaning each plug and socket, but switch off and disconnect the battery each time, WAIT 10 MIN AFTER DISCONNECT BEFORE MAKING A NEW CONNECTION.
8 Remove the air bag and re-make the connection at the fixed part of the rotator, move the resistor to the air bag plug at the moving part of the rotator.
9 This last test proves the rotating connection, if all is still working put back the air bag.
I my case the system had no faulty units, just bad connections.
I did not need to touch any unit with a test meter.
