I am thinking of fitting a K&N air filter to my 1.8 blacktop zetec. Can anyone advise me how to fit one please?

Cheers

Brendan

The basic K&N is designed to fit inside the standard box so once you know the part number it's a simple change. If you go beyond that to a cone filter you will need to discard the standard box and improvise a bit.Somebody on TM will probably have done this on your version of engine, and will surface eventually with more details.

Thanks Keith - unfortunately the link doesn't seem to work. Perhaps you can direct me via a different link please?

Cheers

Hi Brendan. I have the same engine in my 2005 4/4 and fitted the K&N a few years ago. As Dave W said, it is a straight replacement, and is a standard item for the Ford Focus year 2000 approx model. You will need to remove the "elephant trunk" air hose, then unclip the top of the air filter box (at front) and just swap the filter. Part number is 33-2819 according to the box which I still have - but do check as these numbers can change. Cost about £35, and made a small but worthwhile improvement. Nigel
