Have been looking at hotel accommodation prices for Mog 16 to find that in some cases it is cheaper to book prior to 1st September when rooms for this go on sale. For example a double room with breakfast for 2 nights is £10 cheaper than if I waited to book on September 1st for the Mecure Hotel in Milton Keynes. Now I would have expected a reduced price for block Morgan bookings but this does not seem to e the case!

Hotel prices seem to increase the further south one travels...especially in the holiday period.
Down here in the New Forest/Dorset area there is nothing much under £50, easy to pay £100 and far too much way over this. It makes organising anything down here difficult if it is to be affordable.
So, what is acceptable, what do people think makes sense as an overnight rate?
We all have different expectations/ideas...
I feel a poll is needed...

I think it's all to do with demand, most hotels increase their prices when they know there's a big event in the area. Goodwood is a great example, Travelodge in Chichester wanted around £200 a night last year during the revival, presumably because they could as most hotels in the area were fully booked. I go to quite a few business conventions and the room rate is higher than the normal rate because the charge includes all of the function room hire etc.

Thankfully this is one I can travel to each day. Bit of a trek down the M1 and back - even if it's finished.

I did Newmarket on two consecutive days! This one will be a breeze. The M1 might be finished by then.
