Here on the continent the age of a car is mostly specified by the first registration date. Or does anyone expect a car to be built same year when you get a (e.g. US or Japaneese od Korean) car in January?? Especially when a Moggy is more than one or two years in age the price orientates mainly on specifications and conditions than on build year. My silly point of view... This whole issue is avoided in Australia where the month and year of manufacture is on the compliance plate. This plate is usually fastened to a permanent part of the cars structure (difficult with a trad Mog ) and yes, it does make a difference to re-sale value. New cars manufactured in a previous year are usually discounted. Below is an example of one of the new "self-voiding" compliance lables that are being introduced to avoid vehicle cloning or re-birthing of stolen vehicles. As you can see the date of manufacture is 02/08 (ie. February 2008) PS. Welcome Bertie1: If it has the 1.8 engine I think you have a bonus, it is an engine that pulls very strongly. Enjoy it whatever the year.
