Yesterday I collected my 4/4 from Toulouse and drove home, five and a half hours in mostly blazing heat. Already I have a problem...
I decided to put the hood up when I got home, but it was not possible: the (Marina door handle?) release did not function, even though I followed the advice in the excellent Newtown Motors video and pressed down on the back of the hood.
Thinking about this since then, I recall that at one point on the autoroute, I went over one of those bridge joints which turned out to be far more severe than expected. The car took off perhaps and anyway it then settled with a violent bump from the rear. Up to that point I had been thinking that motorway ride quality was much like that in a normal car...
It seems likely that this vertical impact must have dislodged the Heath-Robinson hood release mechanism. Has anyone else experienced this kind of event? Presumably, rectification requires a considerable amount of disassembly. I am wondering how long it will take my dealer's agent to do that...

Remove the spare wheel and you can get at the mechanism up under the rear of the hood -- odds are that either the end nuts have become loose so the wire won't move the left hand release far enough, or that one of the release mechanisms which are held in by two nuts has come loose and the wire pull isn't doing anything.
I hope it is the former as getting the nuts on the latter is not easy as access for a spanner is very difficult. - Don't ask how I know!!!!!!!!

You should be able from the back of the car to slide a spanner between the hood rail & the back valance and loosen the lock nut on the prong. Keep the Marina handle pulled out by putting something in it to hold it open at the same time.
The prongs are bent slightly. If they rotate they won't release.
If this works then you need to experiment with the best rotational position of the bent prong.

I forgot to say I put a sheet of cardboard over the paint (an old cereal packet) to protect it. You might be able to get at the wire by taking out the parcel shelf and reaching upwards.

Do you still have a resistance when moving the hood door handle? If yes, try the recommendation of the video to press down the back of the hood again before you start the complicated disassembly. When my recent Mog was new, it was unbelievable stiff and needed the help of two hands, pressing the back of the hood down, gently but powerful, when a third hand moved the hood door handle. It was so tight, that I thought it is broken.
If you should have success, make the screws within the springs a bit more loosen, at least for the first weeks (of course you want to stay dry) , and grease the system.

These handles are stiff - I felt worried I might break mine when using it but I was being over cautious. Have you tried giving a stronger pull on the lever - it's tougher than you would think and it has to be forced past the resistance to undo it.

If you're saying the hood is locked down, then get someone else to pull the handle out, with out using undue force, then rock up and down with the heel of your hand directly over the top of one of the pins.

I had the same problem on both Mogs and undid both pins a couple of turns and the problem is solved.
If you are having this problem now with just the hood, then don't lock down it over your Tonneau until you have slackened the pins or you will never get it undone.
Hope that you get it fixed soon.
