Anyone know the cost of this modification out of warranty?

My car suffered from this a couple of weeks ago, The bolt had forced it's way through the casing. This however is not always a case of just changing the belt and the bolt. Mine requires a new crankshaft as the stationary bolt had ruined the thread in the rotating shaft.
It is at Krazy Horse now waiting for parts, I was told that this is the second crankshaft they have had to replace due to this problem so it is quiet common.
What I cannot understand is why this is not sorted out during a service on the older cars, the cost of changing a bolt must be insignificant when compared to a crankshaft and all go the other bits and bobs. If Morgan were a bit more proactive it would save them a lot of money in the long run and improved customer service considerably.

If this goes outside the warranty at - say, 5,000 miles - is this regarded as a cost to the owner or a "not fit for purpose" fix? Any stories welcome.

I'm trying to get my car 'upgraded' at the forthcoming 3 year service and would love to know any precedents that are being set. Thanks.

I had the pulley kit fitted foc (outside warranty) at the same time as a whole lot of other work was being carried out. I did have to pay for a new cam belt however (which I was happy to do for my peace of mind).

Thanks Bunny. Helpful, as I will try the same approach. At 3 years and nearly 4,500 miles I will reluctantly pay for the belt if the kit is fitted...

I don't know for sure, but I expect that the necessary parts are 'free issue' from S&S to MMC.

How is this problem solved on 2014 and newer models? Does Morgan just install washers/bolts at factory, or is there a redesign of the cover?

I've had it in mind to add wire covered vents or machine gaps in the lower edges of my cam belt cover to minimize risk of things falling in.

Just got word from my dealerships service department and there are two kits available. "SP130202 is gear, bolt and washer. SP130046 covers all front case parts."

Thanks guys
It seems to me that at least the bolt should be available free issue. I have been qouted £300 odd quid for a full set of pulleys etc from the dealer. Not sure why I would need all that. Since fitting a new belt and vented cover some 10,000 miles ago there have been no isssues and belt looks as good as new.
Not sure how a new bolt helps things. Does it have some sort of tab washer fitted. Pics would be good if anyone has them. I am going to ring the s and s guy
In Wales and see what he has on offer.

I had a close look at mine. I think there are still washers in there but there are 2 horizontal 1mm slots on the front where the casing ridges are. I'm not game to take it off to see what they have done with the pulleys.
