Close examination of the TOTH photo posted by John V6 will show that I wore an Australian styled Panama hat to go up the hill. I may be long in the leg but I am short in the body so sit fairly low in the car. Amazingly the hat stays in place even at 130+ kph.

I also wear Ozzie leather hats (they have the advantage of being foldable) at 130+ kph.

My baseball cap (sweat stains compete with oil stains) is my cruise control. At 70 mph it begins to lift off, so I lift off.

My baseball cap never lifts, but on the back seat of an open double decker at Silverstone it had gone in an instant. Luckily it went downstairs like a sycamore seed and the clippie caught it.....................................

IMHO, the best tyre for a sporty driven 4/4 is the Avon CR6ZZ 185/70. I found, in fast driven curves the Conti was extremely dangerous. There are worlds between these tires...

Thanks especially to those who have given advice on tyre pressures. I now think that 1.7 bar is a fairly good compromise. My main concern as far as tyres are concerned is that, even though my driving is mostly on dry roads, it will probably take a great deal of effort to wear out the Contis!
My dealer, when showing me around the car, remarked that he saw no value in the lever to adjust the steering column angle. I have now discovered its value: it facilitates insertion of the ignition key.
Bravo to whoever designed the 'Easy-Up' hood - very clever piece of engineering. It requires a bit of 'running in', however.
I have long thought that one likes a car despite its faults or hates it despite its virtues. The more I drive the 4/4, the more I like it - and it is not as if it is without faults.
