Yes I think it's beginning to happen with me too.. I still do the best job I can but tend to say what I think, for those that appreciate it I believe it's adding value, for the rest I'm not really worried..
Spot on Steve being honest is an increasingly rare value in the work place nowadays with everything being Stat driven as opposed to outcome driven which is the only meaningful value judgement of your work.

Bang on, Steve. I think my clients pay me to speak my mind rather than toe the line. It's one of the best things about being an independent consultant. If they don't like what I have to say, they are always free to try and manage without me
