Supplied the wrong petrol filler pipe by Harpers who seem unwilling to change it to the correct 2 seater pipe...or issue a refund. The part supplied by them is a straight pipe for a 4/4 four seater and in no way will it fit. I have now obtained the correct pipe which has a slight bend. Advice please on installation after I have cut it to the correct length. Many thanks

I recently replaced my filler pipe on the 89 Plus four 2 str, having ordered the bent one from BHM. Two things : the pipe needed to be shortened and so I made a simple template from paper. In order to stop filling blowback I made it as straight as possible and now have a fast fill at the pump. The other thing noticed was how corroded/cracked the exterior was and how undegraded the interior. I use 98 unleaded. Vaseline around the tank pipe and the filler pipe will help but it can be a bit of a struggle.

If you are within 14 days of delivery, you can refer Harpers to the distance selling regulations (assuming you bought via phone / website) which stipulate that the seller must refund the goods and postage, no matter what the reason for return.

Vaseline around the tank pipe and the filler pipe will help but it can be a bit of a struggle. Understatement of the century! When I did mine I though I was never going to get it to go on, it was a complete pig. Plenty of lube and plenty of patience required.

Just went to look up the Distance Selling Regulations and they were replaced by the Consumer Contracts Regulations in June 2014. http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-contracts-regulationsEssentially the same - the Which page link gives a very straightforward explanation. They also include online / telephone purchases of services - e.g. Gym Membership.
