I like my incontinent 9-3, but if it leaks much more bl,,dy oil the driveway will be like a skating rink...
Anyway, my garage chappy said use it on holiday. If it's going to be expensive it's not worth repairing, so will be in for another car swap. swmbo impressed! frown

Buy a Honda, mate. Life's too short to be dicking about with unreliable shopping trolleys. Plus you should be supporting the guys in Swindon. Buy local!

I had a late 2007 1.8t which clocked 10,000 utterly reliably KMs. I really liked it - the seats were superb. I test drove a "new" 9-5 when I bought the Alpina and would have been tempted had it been a touch more involving to drive - and I hadn't driven the Alpina before!

Reading the Honda forums, Swindon built cars are not a patch on those built in Japan for reliability...
Having tried a few Hondas I've not found anything that is interesting to drive - OK they've all been shopping trolley/commutacar type.

Civic Type R - depreciate quickly too in the early years, so I am told.

And usually thrashed Paul... smile
Thinking about it, one of Prescott's competitors (Steve Davey) had For Sale notices in his Civic Type R at the last competition meeting... But, it's black. Having owned 3 cars that colour I swore "never again"!!! laugh2

Swindon has been making CRV's and Civics for years and I have not heard of any quality problems. I bought a 5 year old CRV in March 14 and in the April took 5 adults with full luggage to Amsterdam and back at 42 mpg not hanging about. It is the best practical vehicle I have owned.

Indeed. I think you might have been reading the 'boy racer' Honda forums, Graham. Swindon is the only place where they manufacture CRVs, and they have a well-deserved reputation for bullet-proof reliability. I bought mine having driven a mate's, which was a 2001 model with way over 150k miles on the clock and was absolutely sound.

I'll completely accept they aren't "interesting" to drive, they just do their job, which is to get from A to B quietly, comfortably, and without fuss or drama. I have the Landy and the Morgan for fun, but when I have to be 100 miles away for a meeting and I've got to be there by 08:30, I take the Honda keys every time.

Not boy racer. And the period I refer to seems to be a few years ago, more related to Jazz/Civic. I wonder if it relates to the period when Honda had a serious cutback on employee hours/numbers. I didn't say the cars were bad, just the Jap built cars had a better reputation...

That's strange, I have a Land Rover and Morgan to compliment the CRV.
